熱田神宮への参拝

　2015年となりました。2015年はASEAN諸国にとって記念すべき年となります。年末にASEAN経済共同体が発足し、アジアのみならず世界経済においてその存在感を増す年となります。いよいよ世界経済に乗り出すときがやってきたといってよいでしょう。ASEANからの留学生の皆さんは身が引き締まる思いで、研究生活を送っているのではないでしょうか。
　さてASEAN-NAGOYA CLUB今年の第一回目は、熱田神宮への参拝にみんなで出かけました。勉学に励むばかりでなく日本社会の隅々を理解する、これが本クラブの目的でもあります。総勢１４名での初詣となりました。
　熱田神宮といえば、皇位継承の象徴とされる三種の神器の一つ「草薙の剣」を神体とする格式高い神宮です。日本書紀などは、日本武尊の死を悼んだ妻の宮簀媛命が１１３年に生前の日本武尊から預かっていた草薙の剣を祭ったことが熱田神宮の始まりと伝えています。
　一同、東門の鳥居に向かい一礼。玉砂利を踏みしめながら、手水舎にて心身を清めました。柄杓を右手に持ち水を汲み、左手を洗い清める。次に左手に柄杓を持ち替え、右手を清める。さらに右手に柄杓を持ち替え、左手に水を受け、口をすすぎます。左手をすすぎ、最後に柄杓を立て、残り水で柄杓の柄を清めます。この一連の動作、日本人でも知らない人が多いものです。これを留学生の皆さんに体験してもらいました。
　参道にある熱田神宮の歴史を荻巣先生、島津さんが「一生懸命」解説。ご本人「勉強になりました」と。1月17日にも関わらず参道には参拝者が列をなしていました。黙々と拝殿に向かう清らかな日本人を見て、留学生の皆さんには日本の景色がしっかり焼きついたのではないでしょうか。おみくじを引いた皆さんは、説明しあい、今年の幸運を祈っていました。一同、西門に一礼。熱田神宮を後にしました。

Worshiping at Atsuta Jingu

Happy New Year 2015 !! 2015 will be a memorable year for ASEAN countries. The ASEAN Economic Community will be established at the end of the year, and it will be a year to strengthen its presence not only in Asia but also in the world economy. It’s time to embark on the world economy. All the international students from ASEAN are also encouraged to complete their research so they can finish their study on time.

The first meeting in this year, all ASEAN-NAGOYA CLUB members (total 14 people) went out to visit Atsuta Jingu. One of the purpose of this club is to introduce the Japanese culture and society. Atsuta Jingu is a prestigious Jingu whose deity is the Kusanagi no Tsurugi, one of the three sacred treasures that are considered to be the symbol of succession to the throne. Nihon Shoki and others report that Atsuta Jingu began when his wife Miyazu-hime, who mourned the death of Yamato Takeru, worshiped Kusanagi no Tsurugi, who had been entrusted to him by Yamato Takeru in 113 years.

Everyone headed to the Torii gate at the east gate and bowed. While trampling on the ball gravel, we cleaned our mind and body at the Chozuya. We held the cassotte in the right hand, took some water, and washed and cleaned our left hand. Then we changed the cassotte to the left hand and cleansed the right hand. We held the cassotte in our right hand, got some water in our left hand, and rinsed the mouth, rinsed the left hand, raised the cassotte at the end, and cleaned the cassotte with the remaining water. Many Japanese people do not know this series of actions. We asked international students to experience this.

Ms. Ogisu and Ms. Shimazu explained the history of Atsuta Jingu. The worshipers were lined up to enter the Shrine. Everyone prayed for the fortunes and wished good luck this yearand then we left.
We continue our trip to Osu shopping street and decided to eat ozone ( Japanese soup containing of mocha rice cakes), which is strongly associated with The Japanese New Year. The Osu shopping street was so crowded, we rushed to Ozoni specialty store and fortunately everyone was able to take a seat. It seemed that all the international students were enjoying the dish.

Usually, there are many philosophical talks about Japan and Japanese culture but at the beginning of the year, we focused on giving experience about Japanese Culture to the international students. Our last destination for our tour today was Karaoke. I didn’t know that The International students could sing Japanese songs so well. By the way, I was fascinated by Indra’s singing voice. Mr. Indra is a professor at a university in Indonesia, but he was so good at singing. Later we found out that he was in charge of vocals and drums in a band at his home university. Next time, everyone at ASEAN-NAGOYA CLUB is fortunate to be able to listen without getting his ticket.

　大須商店街に移り、日本のお正月風景には欠かせないお雑煮を食べることにしました。大須商店街は熱気に溢れていましたが、お雑煮専門店があると聞き、駆けつけました。早く駆けつけたことで全員席につくことができました。日本のお正月の味、留学生の皆さんにとってお雑煮は大好評だったようです。

　いつもは日本とは、日本文化とは何か、日本人とは何かといった哲学的な話しが多いののですが、年明けは日本文化を体験してもらうことに絞りました。最後に、日本発祥”カラオケ”で”自己実現”。留学生の皆さんがこんなに日本の歌を上手に歌えるとは知りませんでした。ところで、インドラさんの歌声には魅了されました。インドラさんはインドネシアの大学の先生なのですが、道を間違えたのではないかと思うほど上手でした。後でわかったことは、母国の大学のバンドでボーカルとドラムを担当していたそうです。次回、ASEAN-NAGOYA CLUBの皆さんは彼のチケットを入手せずに聞くことができるとは幸運なことです。
