2026年4月、ASEAN-NAGOYA CLUBにて、名古屋を代表する老舗飲食企業の経営者山本屋　専務取締役　青木 裕典様をお迎えし、特別講義を開催いたしました。

本クラブではこれまで、ASEAN各国の文化交流を中心とした活動を行ってまいりましたが、今回より新たな取り組みとして、日本企業の経営者をお招きし、実務に基づいた知見に触れる機会を設けております。今回はその第一回目として、長年にわたり地域に根ざした事業を展開されている企業の代表者にご登壇いただきました。

当日はまず、ご自身のこれまでのご経歴や、家業に参画された背景についてお話しいただきました。これまでのご経験を踏まえ、「どのような価値を社会に提供していくか」という視点で事業に向き合われている点についてご紹介があり、参加者も関心を持って聞き入る様子が見られました。

講義では、長く事業を継続していく上での考え方として、「変化と継続のバランス」について触れられました。伝統的な要素を大切にしながらも、時代の変化に応じて提供価値や取り組みを見直していく姿勢の重要性について、具体的なエピソードを交えてお話しいただきました。

また、現代のビジネスにおいては、商品そのものに加え、その背景にある考え方や体験価値をどのように伝えていくかが重要であるとの説明がありました。こうした視点は、参加した留学生にとっても新たな気づきにつながる内容となっていました。

さらに、地域との関わりや社会とのつながりを重視した取り組みについてもご紹介いただきました。事業を通じて地域とどのように関係性を築いていくかという点については、多くの参加者が関心を寄せている様子がうかがえました。

講義後には、留学生との意見交換の時間が設けられ、日本企業の経営に関する考え方や、海外で事業を展開する際に意識すべき点などについて質問が寄せられました。講師からは、文化の違いを尊重する姿勢や、相手の立場に立って考えることの重要性について、丁寧にご説明いただき、会場では活発な対話が行われました。

また、終了後も講師を囲んで個別に質問を行う参加者の姿が見られるなど、終始関心の高い雰囲気の中での開催となりました。

ASEAN-NAGOYA CLUBでは、今後もこのような機会を継続的に設け、日本企業の実務的な知見に触れる場の提供と、留学生との相互理解の促進に取り組んでまいります。

Theme: The Challenge of a Fifth-Generation Leader of a Long-Established Udon Restaurant

In April 2026, ASEAN-NAGOYA CLUB hosted a special lecture featuring Mr. Yusuke Aoki, Executive Vice President of Yamamotoya, a long-established restaurant company representing Nagoya.

Until now, our club has mainly focused on cultural exchange among ASEAN countries. However, as a new initiative, we have begun inviting Japanese business leaders to provide opportunities for participants to gain practical insights based on real-world experience. This lecture marked the first session of this new series, featuring a representative from a company that has long been rooted in the local community.

At the beginning of the session, Mr. Aoki spoke about his career path and the background of his involvement in the family business. Drawing on his experiences, he shared his perspective on how to approach business with a focus on “what value should be delivered to society.” The participants listened with great interest.

During the lecture, he discussed the concept of maintaining a “balance between change and continuity” as a key factor in sustaining a business over a long period. Through specific examples, he explained the importance of preserving traditional elements while also adapting business practices and value offerings in response to changing times.

He also emphasized that in today’s business environment, it is essential not only to provide high-quality products but also to effectively communicate the underlying philosophy and experiential value behind them. This perspective offered new insights for the participating international students.

Furthermore, he introduced initiatives that emphasize engagement with the local community and society. His approach to building relationships through business activities drew considerable interest from many participants.

Following the lecture, a discussion session was held with the international students. Questions were raised regarding Japanese management practices and key considerations when expanding business overseas. In response, Mr. Aoki provided thoughtful explanations on the importance of respecting cultural differences and understanding others from their perspective, leading to active and meaningful dialogue.

Even after the session, several participants remained to ask individual questions, reflecting the high level of engagement throughout the event.

ASEAN-NAGOYA CLUB will continue to provide such opportunities, aiming to offer practical insights into Japanese business and to promote mutual understanding between international students and Japan.
